Maltitol Syrup is a clear, colourless, syrupy liquid sugar alcohol produced by the hydrogenation of maltose obtained from starch. As a hydrogenated starch hydrolysate (HSH), it is a bulk, low-calorie sweetener that behaves much like sucrose in formulation — but does not crystallize, does not promote tooth decay, and is far less likely to cause bottle caps to stick.
We supply Food Grade Maltitol Syrup to FCC V specification in four dry-substance grades (75% / 80% / 85%), packed in 275 kg drums, 1300 kg and 1400 kg IBC drums, or flexibags for bulk cargo. Typical applications: sugar-free hard candy, chewing gum, chocolate, baked goods, ice cream, syrups, and use as a humectant, texturizing agent and stabilizer.

Maltitol is a disaccharide made by the hydrogenation of maltose obtained from starch. Maltitol syrup, a hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, is likewise made by the hydrogenation of a mixture of carbohydrates hydrolyzed from starch. It is 50–80% maltitol by weight, with the remainder being predominantly sorbitol and a small number of other sugar-related substances.
Chemically it is a polyol (sugar alcohol) with high thermal and chemical stability in the syrup form. Because its sweetness profile and mouthfeel are close to sucrose, liquid maltitol can replace sucrose in syrups and confectionery formulations without the crystallization problems that sucrose brings — a key advantage in products where crystal formation would clog lines or stick bottle caps.

Q1. What is maltitol syrup? Maltitol syrup is a hydrogenated starch hydrolysate (HSH) made by hydrogenating a mixture of carbohydrates hydrolyzed from starch. It is 50–80% maltitol by weight, with the balance mainly sorbitol and minor sugar-related substances.
Q2. What is the difference between maltitol syrup and maltitol powder? The syrup is a clear, colourless liquid that needs no dissolving and does not crystallize in syrup form; powder is a solid form of the same polyol family. Choose the liquid when you want pumpable, dust-free handling and non-crystallizing syrups.
Q3. What grades can you supply? Four dry-substance grades per FCC V: ≥75% / ≥75% / ≥80% / ≥85% dry substance, with maltitol assay ≥50% / ≥75% / ≥55% / ≥55% respectively.
Q4. Is it suitable for sugar-free products? Yes. It is a sugar alcohol (polyol) bulk sweetener widely used in sugar-free hard candy, chewing gum, chocolate and reduced-sugar formulations.
Q5. Does it have the cooling effect of other sugar alcohols? No — maltitol exhibits a negligible cooling effect (positive heat of solution), very similar to the subtle cooling effect of sucrose.
Q6. Why does liquid maltitol reduce cap sticking? Because crystallization in the syrup is less likely than with sucrose, the crystal formation that may cause bottle caps to stick is largely avoided.
Q7. What about allergens? The product contains none of the ingredients on the EC list of allergenics.
Q8. How is it packed? 275 kg new plastic drums, 1300 kg / 1400 kg IBC drums, or flexibags. Transport per general chemicals requirements.
Q9. How should it be stored, and what is the shelf life? Store in a cool, dry and ventilated environment. The COA accompanying the goods states the manufacturing and expiry dates for each batch.
Q10. Can you supply a COA and specification? Yes — a batch COA and specification are provided with the goods, and can be sent in advance on request.
