Sorbitol Solution 70% (Sorbitol Syrup 70%, D-Glucitol) is a clear, colourless, non-crystallizing polyol syrup supplied at a minimum dry substance of 70%. It is used by chocolate and compound-coating manufacturers as a bulking agent, humectant and crystallization inhibitor in sugar-free and reduced-sugar recipes.
In a coating system the syrup does more than replace sucrose. Because sorbitol stays in solution instead of forming crystals, it holds free water inside the coating matrix, keeps surface water activity low, and suppresses the re-crystallization of sugars at the surface — the mechanism behind the grey-white surface defect known as sugar bloom. The result is a coating that keeps its gloss and snap through storage and through the temperature cycling typical of export logistics.

| Form | Clear, colourless, syrupy liquid |
| Sweetness | Approx. 60% of sucrose, clean and cooling, no bitter aftertaste |
| Supply mode | Factory direct, bulk drum |
Why formulators choose the liquid grade for coatings: it is pumpable and meterable, disperses into the fat phase without pre-dissolving, introduces no dust into the coating line, and contributes no crystalline grit to the final shell.

| Function in the coating | What it delivers |
| Bulking agent | Replaces part of the sucrose or polyol solids while maintaining body, mouthfeel and shell thickness |
| Crystallization inhibitor | Keeps sorbitol in solution; suppresses surface sugar re-crystallization and the bloom that follows |
| Humectant / water activity control | Binds free water in the matrix, limiting moisture migration between coating and centre |
| Gloss and snap retention | Reduces surface dulling and cracking under temperature cycling in transit and in store |
| Viscosity adjustment | Lowers coating mass viscosity at equal fat level, improving enrobing coverage and thin-shell formation |
| Glycerin alternative | Lower hygroscopicity and less surface tackiness than glycerin at comparable humectancy |
| Sugar-free positioning | Non-cariogenic and suitable for sugar-free and reduced-sugar claims in confectionery |
Sugar-free candy and chewing gum
Bakery and cereal bars
Oral care and personal care
