Maltitol Powder is a white, crystalline disaccharide polyol (sugar alcohol) produced by the hydrogenation of maltose obtained from starch. It contains small amounts of sorbitol and related polyhydric alcohols and is very soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol.
Maltitol is one of the few sugar alcohols whose taste and behaviour come closest to ordinary sugar: its high sweetness lets it be used without blending in other sweeteners, and it shows a negligible cooling effect (positive heat of solution) compared with other polyols — very similar to the subtle cooling effect of sucrose. That is why it is a first-choice bulk sweetener for sugar-free chocolate, hard candy, chewing gum, baked goods and ice cream.
Functionally, maltitol powder is more than a sweetener. It also acts as a humectant, texturizing agent and stabiliser, helping products retain moisture, hold body and resist drying out; in syrups its similarity to sucrose reduces the risk of crystallisation (which can otherwise cause bottle caps to stick); and in the pharmaceutical industry it serves as an excipient and low-calorie sweetening agent, as well as a plasticiser in gelatin capsules, an emollient and a humectant.

Maltitol powder works wherever you need sweetness close to sugar without sugar itself — and it carries extra functionality while it does.
Confectionery & Chocolate (core application)
negligible cooling effect
give a clean, familiar taste; its sharp melting range supports smooth, well-behaved chocolate and coatings.
Bakery & Desserts
Ice Cream & Frozen Desserts
Syrups & Beverages
less crystallisation (which can otherwise cause bottle caps to stick), and being very soluble in water it blends easily into liquid systems.
Pharmaceutical & Nutraceuticals
plasticiser in gelatin capsules, an emollient and a humectant.
Cosmetics & Personal Care
Choosing a mesh grade: use 30-80 mesh for tableting, dry blends and gum bases, and 80-400 mesh for chocolate, coatings and fine confectionery where a smooth mouthfeel and fast dissolution matter. Tell us your application and we will recommend the right grade.

Q: Is maltitol a sugar? Is it suitable for sugar-free products? A: No — maltitol is a sugar alcohol (polyol), not a sugar. It is widely used in sugar-free and reduced-sugar products such as sugarless hard candy, chewing gum and chocolate.
Q: How does maltitol taste compared with sugar? A: Its sweetness is high and close to sucrose, so it can be used without blending in other sweeteners, and it has a negligible cooling effect — very similar to the subtle cooling of sugar. That makes it a good fit for chocolate, baked goods and creamy products where other polyols taste "cool".
Q: Which mesh grade should I choose? A: Use 30-80 mesh (coarser, free-flowing) for tableting, dry blends and gum bases; use 80-400 mesh (finer, fast-dissolving) for chocolate, coatings and fine confectionery. Custom sieve ranges are available on request.
Q: Does it crystallise — will my syrup or product be affected? A: Maltitol's close similarity to sucrose means it works well in syrups with a lower risk of crystallisation (which can otherwise cause bottle caps to stick). For powder handling, keep bags sealed and stored dry.
Q: Is it allergen-free? A: Yes — the product contains none of the ingredients on the list of allergenics of the EC.
Q: Do you provide a COA and specification? A: Yes. Every shipment includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis, and we can provide the specification and representative COAs for your chosen grade on request.
Q: What is the standard packaging? A: Standard is 25 kg kraft paper bags with a food-grade PE inner liner, palletised and stretch-wrapped for export. Customized packaging is available on request.
Q: What is your MOQ and lead time? A: MOQ and lead time depend on grade, mesh size, packaging and destination. Send us your requirement and we will confirm the minimum order quantity, production lead time and shipping schedule.
Q: What are the HS code and trade terms? A: HS code is 38249099. We quote on FOB, CIF and other Incoterms — advise your destination port and we will prepare a quotation.
Q: Can you supply in bulk / on a regular schedule? A: Yes — we are set up for bulk supply. Share your monthly or annual volume and we will plan capacity, packing and shipping accordingly.
Q: Do you offer samples? A: Sample availability and terms are confirmed per enquiry. Contact us with your target mesh grade.
Q: Which documents come with the shipment? A: Batch COA, commercial invoice, packing list and other export documents as required, together with storage and handling instructions.
