Sorbitol Powder (Food Grade) is a white, crystalline, free-flowing powder - the solid form of D-sorbitol, a sugar alcohol (polyol) obtained by the catalytic hydrogenation of glucose and crystallised to a high-purity powder. Supplied as a food grade meeting Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) requirements, it is used as a sweetener and humectant in food and beverage products: it provides a mild, clean sweetness with a reduced calorific value versus sucrose, helps retain moisture to keep products soft and fresh, and helps control crystallisation and improve texture and mouthfeel. As a free-flowing powder it is easy to dose and blend into dry and semi-dry formulations, and it dissolves readily in water.

Sorbitol Powder (Food Grade) is used as a sweetener and humectant in:

Each batch is manufactured under controlled hydrogenation, purification and crystallisation and released against a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Routine controls include assay, moisture, total and reducing sugars, density, specific rotation, pH, residue on ignition, chlorides, sulphates, trace metals (heavy metals, nickel, lead, arsenic), particle-size distribution, and microbiological limits (total plate count, moulds and yeasts, E. coli). A COA is issued with every shipment.
