Sorbitol Powder — also known as D-Sorbitol, D-Glucitol, Sorbit, or Sorbol — is a polyol (sugar alcohol) used as a bulk sweetener, humectant and texturizing agent across the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, oral-care and cosmetics industries. This offer is a white, crystalline sorbitol powder in an 80-120 mesh grade: a fine, free-flowing particle size with excellent water solubility, equally suited to dry blends, tablets, powdered drink mixes and liquid formulations.
Sorbitol is about 60% as sweet as sucrose with roughly one-third fewer calories. It gives a smooth mouthfeel and a clean, cool, pleasant taste, without the bitter off-notes of some high-intensity sweeteners. It is non-cariogenic (does not promote tooth decay) and is a long-established choice for sugar-free and reduced-calorie products, including products formulated for people with diabetes.
Sorbitol has been safely used in processed foods for almost half a century. It has been affirmed as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the U.S. Food Administration and is approved for use in the European Union and in many countries around the world, including Australia, Canada and Japan. This grade conforms to USP / BP / EP / FCC standards and is suitable for both food and pharmaceutical applications.
