Maltitol Syrup 80/55, also known as Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate (HSH, E965), is a clear, transparent and viscous liquid derived from starch hydrogenation. This food grade variant features 80% solid content with a minimum 55% D-maltitol on dry basis. It functions as a low-calorie bulk sweetener and powerful humectant, delivering stable viscosity and reliable moisture control for sugar-free food formulas. It limits crystal formation and maintains consistent texture throughout processing and shelf storage.
Our 80/55 HSH maltitol syrup is manufactured following food-grade production standards. Every production batch undergoes full analytical testing prior to dispatch. We are able to supply COA, MSDS and supporting documents to satisfy import customs clearance and factory quality audits. This grade exhibits good thermal tolerance and blends smoothly with most conventional food raw materials. Its balanced viscosity makes it highly adaptable for different food processing techniques.
Within sugar-free confectionery production, this HSH maltitol syrup preserves the tender texture of hard candies, pastilles and chewing gum. It avoids gritty crystalline deposits and provides gentle sweetness without cariogenic effects.
It is also widely adopted in bakery and reduced-calorie nutritional products. It locks moisture within baked goods to prevent staleness. For nutraceutical formulations, it serves as a taste-masking agent to cover bitter or unpleasant flavours in functional food supplements.
We pack this maltitol syrup 80/55 in leak-proof 250kg plastic drums, engineered for safe long-distance ocean transport. Custom packaging solutions can be negotiated for large bulk orders. When kept sealed in cool, dry, ventilated warehouses away from direct sunlight and high temperatures, the product shelf life reaches 24 months.

Each delivery is released on the parameters above, and the certificate states both grade figures directly.
Chocolate and compound masses. The 20% water the syrup brings is worked off in the mixer and the conche before refining. Because the solids are high, the mass reaches the refiner sooner and the conching energy spent on water removal is lower than with a 75% grade.
Bakery and biscuit fillings. A filling deposited at 80% solids holds its shape on the line and sets to a firm cream without added starch. The polyol blend keeps the water activity in a range that resists osmophilic spoilage.
Gelatin and pectin gummies. Cooked to a set solids of about 78%, the mass gives a firm, springy bite. Starting with an 80% syrup shortens the evaporation step and reduces the thermal load on the gel former and the colour.
Fruit preparations and sauces. Where a preserve needs body without an excess of sucrose, the syrup contributes viscosity and gloss while keeping the fruit pieces suspended through the fill.
Nutrition bars and cereal binders. The syrup binds the dry phase and stays pliable, so the bar does not crumble at the cut or harden over the shelf period.

Release covers dry substance, water, maltitol and sorbitol distribution, pH, reducing sugars, ash, metals and microbiological counts. Viscosity is not a release parameter in its own right, but it follows from dry substance, so the refractometer reading at the filling head is the practical control on how the syrup will pump and how much water it will add to a batch.
Lot codes link the drum to its evaporation run and to retained samples. If a delivery behaves differently at the transfer pump, the retained sample allows the solids to be re-checked against the certificate.
The syrup is hot-filled into 250kg lacquered steel drums with a food-grade liner and a gasketed lid, or into 1000kg IBCs with a bottom valve for bulk feed. Drums are palletised four high; 80 drums fit a 20ft container and an IBC load runs 18-20 units. Neutral or buyer-labelled drums can be supplied.

Store between 18 and 30°C in a covered warehouse, away from sunlight and heat sources. At 80% solids the syrup is slow to move when cold; warm drums to 45°C and roll them before transfer, particularly in winter. Keep bungs closed between draws and do not allow condensate to enter the drum. Closed drums keep their declared grade figures for 24 months.
