Sorbitol Powder — also written D-Sorbitol or D-Glucitol — is a polyol (sugar alcohol) supplied as a white crystalline powder and used worldwide as a bulk sweetener, humectant and texturizing agent. Registered under CAS No. 50-70-4 and food additive INS No. 420, sorbitol powder is one of the most widely used polyols in the food, confectionery, oral care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
Sorbitol is about 60 percent as sweet as sucrose while carrying roughly one-third fewer calories, and it delivers a smooth mouthfeel with a sweet, cool and pleasant taste. It is very soluble in water and only slightly soluble in alcohol, so it disperses and dissolves quickly in aqueous systems — an advantage for beverages, syrups, fillings, pastes and other liquid or semi-liquid formulations.
Every batch of our sorbitol powder is manufactured and tested against recognised international standards — USP36, BP2016, EP8.0 and FCC V — and is supplied in two standard mesh grades, 20–60 mesh and 60–120 mesh, packed 25 kg per bag with a kraft outer bag and PE inner liner. Customised packing is available on request.
Typical buyers of this grade include confectionery and bakery manufacturers, beverage and dairy processors, toothpaste and oral care producers, personal care and cosmetic formulators, and pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers looking for a reliable sugar alcohol raw material.

As a bulk sweetener and humectant, sorbitol powder is used across processed foods and confectionery — including sugar-free and reduced-sugar candies, chewing gum, chocolate and compound coatings, bakery products, fillings, jams and frozen desserts. Its humectant function helps the finished product hold moisture, while its texturizing function contributes body and a smooth mouthfeel.
Sorbitol is a common raw material in oral care and personal care formulations, where it works as a humectant and a sweetener with a cool taste profile — for example in toothpaste, mouth rinses and other dentifrice products, as well as in skin care preparations where moisture retention is required.
In the cosmetics industry sorbitol is used as a humectant and formulation aid, helping creams, lotions and other cosmetic products retain moisture and maintain a smooth, even texture.
Sorbitol is also supplied for pharmaceutical application, where it is used as a sweetener and excipient in oral dosage forms, syrups and similar preparations. The grade is produced and tested against USP36, BP2016 and EP8.0.

Store sorbitol powder in a cool, dry and ventilated environment. Keep the bags sealed until use, away from direct sunlight, moisture and strong odours, and stack them so that the packaging is not crushed. Under these conditions the product keeps its free-flowing crystal form and its specified properties.
Each production batch is sampled and tested in our laboratory before release. Routine testing covers appearance, identification, assay, loss on drying, total sugar, reducing sugar, specific rotation, pH, residue on ignition, chlorides, sulphates, heavy metals, lead, nickel, arsenic, particle size, melting range, ash insoluble in acid and microbiology (total plate count, moulds and yeasts, coliforms, E. coli, salmonella and dead mites).
A Certificate of Analysis is issued for every batch and can be supplied with the shipment. Technical documents including the product specification, safety data sheet and sample Certificate of Analysis are available on request, and samples can be arranged for evaluation before you place a bulk order.
