Sorbitol Solution 70% Food Grade is a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid sugar alcohol derived from corn, conforming to E420 specifications with CAS number 50-70-4 (D-Glucitol). It belongs to the polyol family—a group of sugar alcohols widely used in food, beverage, confectionery, and oral care applications. This grade is supplied in 1000kg IBC tanks for bulk supply, designed for manufacturers and processors requiring large-volume, efficient ingredient handling. As a sugar alcohol polyol, sorbitol serves multiple functions in food formulations. It provides a mild, pleasant sweetness approximately 60% that of sucrose, with a clean taste and a subtle cooling sensation. As a humectant, it binds moisture and helps prevent products from drying out, hardening, or going stale during storage. It also acts as an anti-crystallization agent in confectionery and icings, a stabilizer in frozen systems, and a bodying agent in beverages and fillings. This multifunctionality allows formulators to simplify ingredient lists while achieving sweetness, moisture retention, and texture improvement simultaneously. Sorbitol is non-cariogenic—oral bacteria cannot ferment it into cavity-causing acids—and its metabolism does not require insulin, supporting its use in sugar-free and diabetic-friendly formulations. It is heat-stable and does not participate in Maillard browning, helping preserve the original color and flavor of thermally processed foods. The 1000kg IBC tank format offers significant advantages for bulk supply. The intermediate bulk container is designed for forklift handling, stackable storage, and efficient transport, reducing packaging waste per unit of product and simplifying warehouse logistics. The tank can be connected directly to production lines for continuous feeding, eliminating drum handling and reducing labor costs in high-volume manufacturing environments. Typical specification. The certificate of analysis issued for each shipment is the governing document. Each IBC is released against a certificate of analysis issued for its lot, and the document carries the container number as well as the lot number. Bulk IBC convenience: 1000kg tank reduces packaging waste and handling frequency, supporting efficient large-scale production. Multi-functional polyol: Sweetener, humectant, stabilizer, and anti-crystallization agent in a single ingredient. Mild sweetness: Provides approximately 60% of the sweetness of sucrose with a clean taste and cooling sensation. Moisture retention: Helps prevent products from drying out, hardening, or going stale. Tooth-friendly: Non-cariogenic; does not feed cavity-causing oral bacteria. Gentler on blood sugar: Absorbed slowly; does not cause the rapid spike associated with sucrose. Heat-stable: Does not brown during baking or pasteurization, preserving color and flavor. Sugar-free candies, gum, and mints Baked goods, icings, and fillings Beverages and frozen desserts Jams and fruit preparations Reduced-sugar and diabetic-friendly foods Oral care and pharmaceutical applications Continuous confectionery lines. A single IBC feeds a day tank through a mass flow meter, so the syrup is dosed by weight rather than by drum. Beverage and filling plants. Bulk receiving removes the drum-handling step at the intake bay and cuts the packaging waste stream from the site. Bakery and dairy. A 1000 kg container suits a plant that formulates from a silo or a day tank and does not want to break seals through a shift. Cosmetic and oral care manufacturing. Bulk delivery with a sealed discharge path reduces the risk of a part-used container standing open in a humid filling room. High-consumption sites. Fewer changeovers, fewer lot numbers to reconcile, and a lower cost per tonne than drum supply on the same volume. Dosing is set by mass against the density on the certificate, with the water carried in the syrup deducted from the batch water.Product Overview

Bulk release testing adds container integrity to the usual chemical checks. The IBC is inspected for a clean, undamaged food-grade bottle, an intact valve and an unbroken security seal before filling, and the lot is sampled from the fill line rather than from the container headspace. Dry substance is confirmed refractometrically and by Karl Fischer, and the density is measured so the buyer's flow meter can be calibrated against the actual lot.
Assay is confirmed by HPLC, colour and clarity are read against a fresh reference, and a crystallisation resistance check at 18 °C over 48 hours confirms the syrup will survive a cold container crossing without seeding. Reducing sugars, heavy metals, arsenic and microbiological counts are released against specification, and the container number is recorded on the certificate so a bulk delivery can be reconciled against the site receiving log.

The pack is a 1000 kg food-grade HDPE IBC in a galvanised steel cage on a pallet base, with a fill cap, a vented lid and a bottom butterfly discharge valve with a locking outlet. Containers are loaded 18 to 20 units per 20 ft, depending on the payload permitted for the destination, and each unit is sealed and labelled with product, grade, net weight, lot number and container number. A discharge hose, valve key and a spare gasket can be supplied with the order, and neutral or buyer-branded labels are applied before loading.

Set the IBC on a level, hard standing, chocked or on a pallet, and keep the store between 15 °C and 30 °C, out of sunlight. Stack no more than two high, and never stack a full unit on a part-used one. Keep the fill cap closed and the discharge valve locked when the unit is not in use, since the syrup is hygroscopic and a leaking valve will both dilute the product and leave a slippery floor. Discharge from the bottom valve by gravity into a day tank, or pump through a dip tube from the lid; do not pressurise the container. Empty units should be drained, rinsed and returned or recycled according to the local packaging scheme.
Food Grade, corn-derived sorbitol solution
E420 compliant with CAS 50-70-4
Sugar alcohol polyol with multiple functional benefits
1000kg IBC tank for efficient bulk supply and reduced handling
Suitable for sugar-free, reduced-sugar, and diabetic-friendly formulations
Certificate of Analysis available with each shipment
Bulk without the drum handling. One container, one lot, one seal, which cuts intake labour and packaging waste on a site that consumes several tonnes a week.
Density reported for meter calibration. The measured density travels with the certificate, so a mass flow meter or a volumetric setting can be corrected before the first batch.
Sealed discharge path. A locking butterfly valve and a vented lid keep the product closed through the draw, which matters in a humid filling hall.
Cold-chain proven. A 48 hour crystallisation resistance check at 18 °C is run on each lot, which is the test a container crossing in winter demands.
Container planning support. We confirm the unit count against the payload limit for your port rather than loading to a nominal figure.
Documentation per container. Certificate of analysis, safety data sheet, packing list and container number are issued before dispatch.
