Sorbitol Solution 70% Food Grade (Non-Crystallizing Grade) is a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid derived from corn, conforming to E420 specifications with CAS number 50-70-4 (D-Glucitol). This is the non-crystallizing variant of sorbitol solution, formulated to remain stable, smooth, and free-flowing at ambient temperatures without forming crystal deposits during storage or handling. The key distinction of this grade is its behavior in the drum and on the production line. Standard crystallizing sorbitol solutions can begin forming crystals at lower temperatures, which may cause pipeline blockages, pump wear, and inconsistent product texture. This non-crystallizing grade is designed to avoid those issues, ensuring uninterrupted flow from storage to process and preventing “sandiness” or crystal formation in finished foods. It is the preferred choice for manufacturers who need reliable, consistent handling without the need for heating or special storage conditions. Like all sorbitol solutions, this product provides mild sweetness (approximately 60% that of sucrose) with a clean taste and a subtle cooling sensation. It functions as an effective humectant, binding moisture and helping prevent products from drying out, hardening, or going stale. It also acts as an anti-crystallization agent in confectionery and icings, a stabilizer in frozen and meat-based systems, and a bodying agent in beverages and fillings. Sorbitol is tooth-friendly because oral bacteria cannot ferment it into cavity-causing acids, and its metabolism does not require insulin, supporting its use in sugar-free and reduced-calorie formulations. It is heat-stable and does not participate in Maillard browning, helping preserve the color and flavor of thermally processed foods. This food-grade solution is manufactured from corn and supplied in 250kg drums for manufacturers and distributors requiring reliable bulk quantities. Typical specification. The certificate of analysis issued for each shipment is the governing document. Assay and the polyol distribution are reported separately, since a crystallising process depends on the distribution as much as on the total solids figure. Non-crystallizing formula: Remains stable and pumpable at ambient temperatures, preventing clogs and ensuring consistent texture. Mild sweetness: Provides approximately 60% of the sweetness of sucrose with a clean taste. Moisture retention: Helps prevent products from drying out, hardening, or going stale. Anti-crystallization agent: Inhibits sugar crystallization in confectionery and icings. Tooth-friendly: Non-cariogenic; does not feed cavity-causing oral bacteria. Heat-stable: Does not brown during baking or pasteurization, preserving color and flavor. Easy to handle: Liquid form pumps directly from the drum, eliminating dust and dissolution steps. Sugar-free candies, gum, and mints Baked goods, icings, and fillings Beverages and frozen desserts Jams and fruit preparations Reduced-sugar and diabetic-friendly foods A seeded batch cooled on a controlled curve produces fine, even crystals that give fondant its short, opaque bite rather than a grainy mouthfeel. Rolled and cut gum pieces use the crystallising fraction to set a firm centre that holds shape through conditioning and wrapping. Whipped masses need a crystal skeleton to hold air; the syrup supplies it without the sweetness load that sucrose would add. Where a matt or bloomed surface is wanted, controlled crystallisation from this grade gives a repeatable finish instead of an uncontrolled one. Processes that crystallise sorbitol out of solution to obtain a granular solid can use the syrup as the feed, with the assay setting the expected yield.Product Overview

Release testing for this grade centres on the solids profile. HPLC resolves sorbitol, mannitol and the residual hydrogenated glucose fraction, and the dry substance is read refractometrically against a calibrated curve. Colour, pH, residue on ignition, heavy metals and plate count are run on the same retained sample.
Because a crystallising batch is sensitive to composition, the certificate reports sorbitol on dry basis rather than the total solids figure alone. Retained samples are kept so a customer running an unexpected cooling result can ask for a re-test against the original lot.

The syrup is filled into 250 kg net HDPE drums with tamper-evident closures and shipped palletised. Drums are filled warm enough to remain homogeneous through filling, and the lot is allowed to equilibrate before the certificate is issued. Drum quantity, net weight and batch reference appear on the packing list, with neutral labelling available for buyers who repack or private-label the material.

Store between 18°C and 30°C. This grade will crystallise if it is chilled, so do not park drums in a cold dock, against an external wall or in a chilled anteroom, and do not allow a drum to sit half-full with air space above it. Warm a drum gently and roll it to restore homogeneity before sampling. Once a drum has started to crystallise, controlled re-dissolution is possible, but the solids profile should be re-checked before the material goes into a crystalliser.

Tooth-friendly and suitable for sugar-free formulations
Bulk 250kg drum for industrial-scale production
Certificate of Analysis available with each shipment
Assay stated on dry basis. The certificate reports sorbitol content on the dry matter, which is the figure your crystalliser actually responds to.
Polyol distribution resolved. HPLC reports sorbitol and mannitol separately, so you can see the profile behind the headline number.
Tight dry substance band. Solids are held inside a 1.5 point window, which keeps seed dosage and cooling curves transferable between deliveries.
Retained samples for process troubleshooting. If a batch cools differently from expectation, the original sample can be re-tested rather than argued over.
Drum supply sized for crystalliser batches. A 250 kg drum maps cleanly onto pilot and mid-size batch weights without decanting from a larger unit.
Documents ready before dispatch. Certificate of analysis, safety data sheet and packing list are issued with the booking, and special documentation is arranged on request.
