Sorbitol Solution 70% Industrial Grade is a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid derived from corn, conforming to industrial-grade specifications with CAS number 50-70-4 (D-Glucitol). It is a polyol raw material used across a broad range of industrial applications, where its moisture-retention properties, chemical stability, and polyol functionality contribute to product performance and manufacturing efficiency. As a humectant, sorbitol helps control moisture in adhesives, paper, textiles, and leather processing. In leather fatliquors and synthetic leather, it functions as a plasticizer and conditioner, contributing to flexibility and softness. In paints and coatings, sorbitol is used in the production of alkyd resins, where it helps improve adhesion, flexibility, and durability. It also serves as a raw material in the manufacture of polyurethane foams used in construction, packaging, and insulation. As a polyol building block, its multiple hydroxyl groups support esterification and other chemical reactions, making it a useful intermediate in the production of emulsifiers, surfactants, and specialty chemicals. Sorbitol is non-volatile, meaning it does not evaporate from formulations, and it remains stable under normal storage conditions. The 70% aqueous solution is easy to pump, meter, and incorporate into industrial processes, and its non-crystallizing behavior ensures smooth handling in tanks, pipelines, and mixing equipment. The 250kg drum format is designed for industrial-scale production, supporting forklift handling and efficient warehouse logistics. This industrial-grade product is manufactured for technical applications and is not intended for food, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic use. Typical specification. The certificate of analysis issued for each shipment is the governing document. The certificate of analysis is issued per lot against the drum number, and a safety data sheet is supplied for the site file. • Polyol raw material: Multiple hydroxyl groups support esterification, etherification, and other chemical reactions in derivative production. Leather fatliquors and synthetic leather – plasticizer and moisture conditioner Adhesives and paper – humectant and moisture control Textile processing – moisture retention and conditioning Paints and coatings – alkyd resin production for improved adhesion and flexibility Polyurethane foams – raw material for construction and packaging insulation Chemical synthesis – raw material for sorbitan esters, surfactants, and emulsifiers Industrial cleaning and specialty chemicals – functional additive Alkyd and polyester resin. A six-functional polyol that raises crosslink density at a given oil length, giving a harder film and faster dry. Rigid polyurethane systems. Used as a high-functionality polyol where the water is stripped before the isocyanate charge, so the NCO index stays on target. Sorbitan ester production. The feedstock for sorbitan monoesters and their ethoxylates, where a light colour carries directly into the finished emulsifier. Isosorbide route. The starting polyol for dehydration to isosorbide, a monomer used in high-temperature polycarbonate and polyester work. Aqueous chemical systems. Where a non-crystallizing, low-electrolyte polyol is needed as a humectant or a coupling agent, the water in the syrup is part of the formulation rather than a problem. Charges are calculated on dry basis against the hydroxyl value, with the water load deducted from the process water or removed under vacuum.Product Overview

Chemical conversion is sensitive to numbers, so hydroxyl value is calculated on a dry basis and reported alongside the assay and solids for every lot, which lets the reactor charge be set without a bench check. Conductivity and ash are read because ionic residue can catalyse side reactions and shift a resin's colour, and colour itself is read on the ICUMSA scale against a fresh reference, since a resin holds the shade of its raw material.
Water is confirmed by Karl Fischer and cross-checked refractometrically, and pH is recorded for compatibility with an acid or base catalyst. Reducing sugars, iron and heavy metals are released against specification, and each lot is retained and filed under the drum number so a finished resin batch can be traced back to the syrup charged to the kettle.
Supply is in 250 kg blue tight-head drums, each with a food-grade liner, two sealed bungs and a label carrying product, grade, net weight and lot number. Drums are palletised four to a unit and a 20 ft container closes at 80 drums, roughly 20 tonnes, with the load plan declared before booking. A reactor that charges from bulk can take the same material in a 1000 kg IBC with a bottom valve, and drum or IBC labelling can be neutral or buyer-branded.

Store indoors between 15 °C and 30 °C, upright and closed, away from isocyanates, acids and oxidisers. Cold thickens the syrup and can seed crystals that would not disperse in a reactor charge, so warm a chilled drum and roll it before weighing. Warm storage slowly darkens the product, which is irreversible in a light-coloured resin. Keep bungs closed to prevent dilution, since a water pickup directly disturbs an isocyanate balance or an esterification distillate load.
Industrial Grade, corn-derived sorbitol solution
• Polyol raw material for chemical synthesis and derivative production
• Humectant, plasticizer, and conditioner for industrial formulations
• Used in leather, adhesives, paper, textiles, paints, and foams
• Non-crystallizing for reliable handling and storage
• 250kg drum for industrial-scale production
• Certificate of Analysis available with each shipment
Hydroxyl value on the certificate. Calculated on a dry basis for every lot, so the reactor charge can be set from the document rather than a bench titration.
Light colour, low ash. Colour is a release test, because a resin cannot be bleached back once it has been cooked dark.
Water load stated clearly. Assay, solids and Karl Fischer water are reported together, which is what a formulator needs before charging an isocyanate system.
Low conductivity. Held to a tight limit to limit ionic side reactions in a catalysed cook.
Drum and IBC supply. 250 kg sealed drums for pilot and campaign work, 1000 kg IBC tanks for a reactor with bulk charging.
Industrial documentation. Every kettle charge can be traced to a drum, because the certificate, safety data sheet and packing list are issued with the booking and the drum number is logged on the loading plan.
