Sorbitol Solution 70% (CAS No. 50-70-4, EINECS No. 200-061-5, INS No. 420 / E420, H.S. Code 38246000) is a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid that is fully miscible with water. Chemically it is D-Glucitol (D-Sorbitol), a polyol with the formula C₆H₁₄O₆ and molecular weight 182.17 g/mol.
As a sugar alcohol bulk sweetener, it is approximately 60 percent as sweet as sucrose with one-third fewer calories, delivering a smooth mouthfeel and a sweet, cool, pleasant taste. This batch is manufactured to non-crystalline BP / USP / EP specifications — a grade that resists sugar crystallization even under cold conditions, passing the -18°C / 48-hour resistance test, which makes it particularly suitable for liquid formulations and cold-chain logistics.
Sorbitol has been used safely in processed foods for almost half a century. It is affirmed as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the U.S. Food Administration and is approved for use in the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan and numerous countries worldwide. Food & Beverage. In sugar-free and reduced-sugar confectionery, chewing gum, chocolate and bakery products, Sorbitol Solution 70% acts as the bulk sweetener that provides a smooth, cool taste while controlling crystallization and retaining moisture. In beverages, syrups and desserts it serves as a sugar substitute that lightens the calorie load without sacrificing mouthfeel.
Oral Care & Cosmetics. Sorbitol is a recognized humectant in toothpaste and oral care products — it prevents the paste from drying out and hardening and stops sugar from crystallizing on the tube. The same moisture-retention property makes it a valued moisturizer in creams, lotions, shampoos and other personal care formulations.
Industrial. Beyond food and personal care, it functions as a humectant, plasticizer and crystallization inhibitor across technical applications such as adhesives and industrial fluids.
The product is manufactured to non-crystalline BP / USP / EP specifications and affirmed as GRAS by the U.S. FDA, with approval for use in the EU, Australia, Canada and Japan. It is listed on the TSCA 8(b) inventory in the United States, is not a DOT controlled material for transport, and is not controlled under WHMIS (Canada). Identification is confirmed by HPLC, optical rotation and character tests; the COA concludes "the results conform to the Specification."

Storage and handling. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated environment with the container tightly closed, away from heat, ignition sources and strong oxidizing agents. Per the MSDS, avoid eye contact and wear suitable protective clothing when handling. In case of eye contact, flush with running water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention; if ingested, do not induce vomiting and seek immediate medical attention. The product is stable, non-polymerizing and easily soluble in cold and hot water.
Shelf life. 2 years from manufacture date; batch 20241020 is valid until Oct-19-2026.
