Product Overview
Maltitol Powder is a crystalline sugar alcohol, D-Maltitol, CAS 585-88-6, E965, supplied at 99% purity for beverage applications. A drink is judged before it is tasted: the liquid has to be clear, the sweetness has to arrive at the right moment and fade cleanly, and the body has to feel like more than flavoured water. Maltitol addresses the last two and, at this purity, does not compromise the first.
Dissolution is the practical starting point. The powder is milled fine enough to go into solution quickly in a cold or warm batch, with moderate agitation and no heating step in most formulas. A high-purity crystal leaves very little insoluble matter, so a finished drink stays bright rather than throwing a haze, and a clear bottle on a lit shelf shows no sediment over the shelf life.
The sweetness curve is the reason formulators choose maltitol over a high-intensity sweetener alone. It carries roughly half the sweetness of sucrose at equal weight, with a profile that rises and falls in a similar shape, so it fills the middle of the curve that intense sweeteners leave hollow. A blend typically uses maltitol for body and a small amount of steviol glycoside or sucralose above it, which trims total sweetener cost while keeping a round mouthfeel. Process stability matters in a pasteurised or hot-filled line. Maltitol is non-reducing, so it does not react with amino acids during heat treatment and does not darken a clear drink or shift the colour of a fruit base. It also resists acid hydrolysis in the pH range of soft drinks and juice, so the sweetness level at packing is the sweetness level at the end of shelf life.

Applications
Ready to drink and still beverages
Maltitol is dissolved in the water phase ahead of the flavour and acid, and the batch is then pasteurised or hot-filled. The finished drink stays clear, and the sweetness holds its level through the heat treatment without browning.
Powdered drink mixes and instant sachets
For a dry mix the powder must flow and must not cake in the sachet. A fine, free-flowing crystal blends evenly with acid, flavour and colour, and dissolves without stirring when the sachet is emptied into cold water.
Syrups and coffee flavourings
At high solids a maltitol syrup stays pourable and does not crystallise in the bottle, so a sugar-free syrup can be dispensed from a pump without clogging and keeps its clarity at the bottom of the container.
Protein and dairy based drinks
In a protein shake the sweetener has to mask the mineral note of the protein without adding viscosity. Maltitol carries body in a low-fat base, so a ready to drink shake does not taste thin next to a full-sugar version.
Sports and functional waters
Where a low calorie claim is wanted, maltitol supplies part of the solids and the mouthfeel while keeping the osmotic load below the level that makes a drink feel heavy in the stomach during exercise.
Quality Control
Beverage customers need clarity, so every lot is checked for solution appearance as well as for the standard chemistry. A sample is dissolved and examined against water for haze and colour, assay is confirmed by HPLC, moisture by Karl Fischer, and the sieve result verifies the fine cut. Heavy metals, arsenic and microbiological counts are run against the specification before release.
Lot codes on the bag, the pallet and the certificate tie a delivery to its crystallisation run, and retained samples are kept for re-test if a customer needs to check a batch after a formulation change.
Packaging & Shipping
Powder is filled into 25kg PP woven bags with a PE inner liner, sealed and palletised for container loading. Neutral print or buyer-branded bags are available for bulk orders. Loads are booked as full container, LCL or mixed shipments depending on volume, and the packing list, booking documents and certificate of analysis are issued before dispatch.
Storage & Handling
Keep the bags closed in a cool, dry store, away from sunlight and from any area where floors are washed down. A beverage plant is damp by nature, so a part-used bag should be resealed and returned to the pallet rather than left beside a mixing tank. Store away from flavour concentrates and cleaning agents. In unopened original packing the powder holds specification for 24 months.
Why Choose Us
- Purity that keeps a drink bright. The 99% assay and low insoluble content mean less haze risk in a clear bottle, checked lot by lot in solution rather than on paper alone.
- Fast dissolution in cold water. The fine 60-200 mesh cut disperses quickly under normal agitation, which shortens batch cycle time in a beverage kitchen.
- Direct from the plant. Material is crystallised, milled and bagged on our own site, so the sample approved by your lab and the bulk delivery follow the same route.
- Stable through heat treatment. Being non-reducing, the powder does not brown during pasteurisation or hot fill, and the sweetness level set at batching carries through to the end of shelf life.
- Blend support. Our technical team can help balance maltitol against a high-intensity sweetener so the sweetness curve and the mouthfeel land where the target profile needs them.
- Bulk packing and documents. 25kg PP woven bags with PE liner, palletised on request, with neutral or buyer-labelled print and full export paperwork issued before the container is released.
