Our Sorbitol Powder (D-Glucitol, CAS 50-70-4, INS No. 420(i)) is a food-grade sugar alcohol produced by catalytic hydrogenation of glucose. It is a white, hygroscopic, crystalline powder with a faint sweet taste, approximately 50–60% as sweet as sucrose. It is very soluble in water and functions as a sugar alcohol humectant, retaining moisture and preventing products from drying out during storage.
This grade is Non-GMO, processed with non-GMO raw material to meet the requirements of GMO legislation. As a humectant, sorbitol is widely used in baked goods, confectionery, toothpaste, and cosmetic creams to maintain texture and extend shelf life. It also serves as a sweetener, stabilizer, and bulking agent, with JECFA listing its functional classes as bulking agent, humectant, sequestrant, stabilizer, sweetener, and thickener. The product is packed in 25 kg PP bags and available for bulk supply.
The FDA lists D-sorbitol’s technical effects to include humectant and nutritive sweetener, and it is affirmed as GRAS under 21 CFR 184.1835. This grade meets food-grade specifications with typical assay ≥99% and moisture ≤1.0%.

Humectant Function
Sorbitol is a non-volatile polyol that absorbs and retains moisture, preventing products from drying out, cracking, or losing texture during storage. This function is critical in baked goods, confectionery, toothpaste, and cosmetic creams. In toothpaste, sorbitol acts as a non-cariogenic humectant and plasticizer while imparting a cool, sweet taste.
Sweetener Function
Sorbitol provides approximately 50–60% of the sweetness of sucrose. As a sugar alcohol, it is suitable for sugar-free and reduced-calorie formulations. It is non-cariogenic and does not raise blood glucose concentrations.
Bulking and Stabilizing
Sorbitol contributes body and mouthfeel without excessive sweetness. JECFA lists its functional uses as bulking agent, humectant, sequestrant, stabilizer, sweetener, and thickener. It inhibits sugar crystallization in syrups and confections.
Food & Beverage
• Sugar-free confectionery: Chewing gum, candies, mints, cough drops—sorbitol provides sweetness, bulk, cooling effect, and non-cariogenic properties
• Bakery & desserts: Sugar-free cakes, fillings, frostings, frozen desserts—humectancy and crystallization inhibition
• Beverages & spreads: Sugar-free syrups, no-sugar-added jams and jellies
Pharmaceutical & Oral Care
• Sugar-free syrups and elixirs: palatability and solution stability
• Chewable tablets: tablet diluent with sweet taste
• Toothpaste and mouthwash: humectant, plasticizer, non-cariogenic sweetness
Personal Care
• Cosmetic creams, lotions, and hair care: humectant and skin conditioning agent
The segregated line is the control that makes the claim defensible. Grain intake, starch slurry, glucose liquor and finished powder are each recorded against the campaign, and a change of feedstock source requires a new PCR screen before the line is released. Finished powder is tested for protein content, since residual protein is the practical marker of a plant-derived contaminant, and the result is reported on the certificate rather than summarised as a statement.
Documentation is issued per shipment: the non-GMO declaration, the feedstock statement, the PCR report and the allergen declaration are prepared as one package with the certificate of analysis, so the buyer's regulatory team receives a complete file rather than a set of attachments to chase.
Packing is a 25kg PP woven bag with an inner PE liner, heat-sealed, with the campaign reference printed on the bag in addition to the lot number so that the non-GMO status of a specific delivery can be read off the bag itself. Bags are palletised and stretch-wrapped on request, neutral or buyer-labelled packing is available for bulk orders, and container loading is confirmed per order against the destination port and the palletisation chosen. Full container, LCL and mixed shipments are handled, and the declaration package travels with the shipping documents rather than being sent after arrival.

Keep the bags in a dry, ventilated warehouse below 35°C and away from strong odours, on pallets rather than on the floor. Because the claim attached to this material is documentary, storage discipline has a second purpose: bags must stay in their original labelled packaging with the campaign reference legible, since a bag decanted into an unmarked container loses the link between the powder and its declaration. Do not store next to conventional starch or grain dust. In original unopened packaging the powder holds its flow for 24 months at those conditions.
