Our Sorbitol Powder (D-Glucitol, CAS 50-70-4, E420) is a white, crystalline powder with a mild sweet taste, about half as sweet as regular sugar. It is a sugar alcohol made from glucose and is widely used in medicines, foods, and personal care products. This grade meets BP, USP, and EPpharmacopoeial standards, is supplied in 20–60 mesh granular form, and is specifically processed for direct compression tableting with non-caking performance.
Sorbitol is one of the most versatile ingredients in pharmaceutical manufacturing. In tablets, it serves as a diluent or filler—giving the tablet its size and bulk while blending smoothly with active ingredients. It is particularly valued in chewable tablets because of its sweet taste and pleasant mouthfeel, making medicines easier to take, especially for children and elderly patients.
The non-caking property of this grade is important for tableting. Standard sorbitol can absorb moisture and form lumps over time, which disrupts the steady flow of powder into the tablet press and can cause inconsistent tablet weight. This grade is processed to stay free-flowing, so it moves smoothly through hoppers and feeders without interruption.
The 20–60 mesh particle size is a granular specification. Granular sorbitol flows well and fills the tablet die evenly, which helps produce tablets of consistent weight and strength. For direct compression—a tableting method where powders are compressed directly without wet granulation—good flow and compressibility are essential. Sorbitol’s natural compressibility and sweet taste make it a practical choice for this process.
This product is packed in 25 kg PP bags, with bulk supply available for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers.

Tablet Filler with Sweet Taste
Sorbitol gives the tablet its bulk and size, while also providing a mild sweetness. In chewable tablets, this means you may not need to add extra sweeteners or flavor masking agents.
Good Compressibility
Sorbitol compresses well under pressure, forming tablets that hold together properly. This is essential in direct compression, where the ingredients must bind together without the help of granulation liquids.
Non-Caking for Steady Flow
The powder stays loose and free-flowing in storage, so it feeds evenly into the tablet press. No lumps, no flow interruptions, no weight variation.
Granular Form for Even Die Fill
The 20–60 mesh granules flow smoothly and fill the tablet die consistently, helping produce tablets of uniform weight and hardness.

Personal Care
Toothpaste and mouthwash: Moisture retention and mild sweetness
At turret speeds where a finer diluent would fluidise in the feed frame, the 20-60 mesh fraction keeps a constant head of powder over the dies. Fill depth stays repeatable, so tablet weight and hardness hold within a narrower band across a long campaign.
Segregation is driven by differences in particle size and density between components. Matching the diluent cut to the active's particle size, and keeping fines low, reduces the tendency of the active to sift downward during transfer and blending, which supports content uniformity in low-dose products.
Sorbitol supplies bulk, sweetness and a cooling mouthfeel in a non-cariogenic tablet, and it compresses into a smooth, hard surface without a granulation step, which shortens the process route for chewable and dispersible formats.
Where a formulation is partially dry granulated, sorbitol partners well with the compacted ribbon: it deforms rather than fragments, so the fines generated during milling still compress into tablets with acceptable friability instead of producing a weak, dusty compact.
A non-hygroscopic diluent limits the water available in the tablet matrix. With no granulation water to dry off and little atmospheric pickup in the hopper, the finished tablet starts drier and stays drier, which supports stability through the shelf life.
Typical use is 30-70% of tablet weight in a direct compression formula, adjusted against the active dose, the binder or disintegration system and the target tablet hardness; a compaction trial on your own press is the reliable way to set the level.
Release testing follows the BP, USP and EP monographs for assay, loss on drying, specific rotation, related substances and elemental impurities, and adds the physical results a direct compression line depends on: particle size distribution, fines content and bulk density. These are reported as measured values, not as pass or fail alone, so a formulator can model how a lot will behave on the press.
Each bag carries a lot code linking it to the crystallisation run and the packing record. Retained samples are held for the full retest period, and sieve and density data from previous lots can be supplied for trend comparison on request.
Material is packed in 25kg PP woven bags with a food-contact PE liner, heat-sealed at the mouth to exclude humidity in transit. Palletised and shrink-wrapped units are available, and neutral or buyer-labelled bags can be printed for bulk orders. Loading is confirmed per order against the destination port and pallet layout, with full container, LCL and mixed shipments arranged and the certificate of analysis issued before dispatch.

Store in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse away from direct sunlight, off the floor and away from walls that condense. Keep the bags away from strongly odorous goods and from solvents. Avoid storage above 40°C, which can promote caking and change the flow behaviour of the cut. Unopened bags keep their flow character for 24 months from production; once the liner is cut, close it again and finish the contents within the present campaign.
Made for Direct Compression
The 20–60 mesh granular form and non-caking treatment are selected for direct compression tableting. The powder flows steadily, fills the die evenly, and compresses into tablets with consistent weight and strength.
Meets BP USP EP Standards
Pharmacopoeial compliance gives you documented assurance that the product meets the purity and quality standards required for pharmaceutical use.
Sweet Taste, Pleasant Mouthfeel
Sorbitol’s mild sweetness and smooth mouthfeel make chewable tablets more pleasant to take, which can improve patient compliance.
25 kg PP Bag, Bulk Supply Ready
Standard 25 kg PP bag packaging suits trial runs and production-scale purchasing. Bulk supply capacity supports repeat orders and contract volumes.
Physical data reported, not just conformity. Particle size, fines content and bulk density are measured per lot and printed on the certificate, so your process team can judge how a delivery will run before it reaches the press.
Mesh cut built for die fill. A tight 20-60 mesh window with a low fines ceiling keeps the feed frame stable and reduces the weight variation that shows up at high turret speeds.
Compendial release testing. Assay, related substances, specific rotation, loss on drying, lead and nickel are checked against the BP, USP and EP monographs, with microbiological counts on the finished powder.
Own-plant production. Crystallisation, milling, classification and packing are handled in one facility, which keeps the physical specification repeatable and removes the trading step between producer and buyer.
Audit-ready documentation. Specification sheets, safety data sheets and lot-linked certificates are issued in a form suitable for your supplier qualification file, with additional statements prepared on request.
Packing matched to intake. 25kg lined PP bags as standard, palletised or floor-loaded to suit the receiving dock, with neutral or buyer-labelled printing available.
Direct technical contact. Compaction behaviour, dilution potential and blend segregation are easier to resolve with the producer than through a distributor. Our team will review the trial results with your formulation group.
