Sorbitol Solution 70% Food Grade is a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid derived from corn, conforming to E420 specifications with CAS number 50-70-4 (D-Glucitol). It is a sugar alcohol widely used in the food and beverage industry as both a humectant and a sweetener. This non-crystallizing grade is supplied in 250kg blue drums for bulk supply, suitable for manufacturers, distributors, and processors requiring reliable quantities with convenient handling and storage. Typical specification. The certificate of analysis issued for each shipment is the governing document. The certificate of analysis is issued per lot and printed against the drum number on the label, so a delivered drum can be matched to its release record. Non-crystallizing formula: Remains stable and pumpable at ambient temperatures, preventing clogs and ensuring consistent texture. Sugar-free candies, gum, and mintsProduct Overview
As a sweetener, sorbitol provides a mild, pleasant sweetness approximately 60% that of sucrose, with a clean taste and a subtle cooling sensation. As a humectant, it binds moisture and helps prevent products from drying out, hardening, or going stale during storage. These dual functions make sorbitol a practical ingredient for sugar-free and reduced-sugar applications, including confectionery, baked goods, beverages, and frozen desserts.
The non-crystallizing formulation remains stable and pumpable at ambient temperatures, ensuring smooth flow from drum to process line and preventing crystal formation in finished foods. Sorbitol is non-cariogenic and its metabolism does not require insulin, supporting its use in sugar-free and diabetic-friendly formulations. It is heat-stable and does not participate in Maillard browning, helping preserve the original color and flavor of thermally processed foods.
The 250kg blue drum format offers practical advantages for bulk supply: durable construction, easy identification in warehouse storage, and suitability for forklift handling.![]()

Key Benefits
Mild sweetness: Provides approximately 60% of the sweetness of sucrose with a clean taste.
Moisture retention: Helps prevent products from drying out, hardening, or going stale.
Tooth-friendly: Non-cariogenic; does not feed cavity-causing oral bacteria.
Gentler on blood sugar: Absorbed slowly; does not cause the rapid spike associated with sucrose.
Heat-stable: Does not brown during baking or pasteurization, preserving color and flavor.
250kg blue drum: Durable, easy to identify, and suitable for forklift handling in bulk supply operations.Applications
• Baked goods, icings, and fillings
• Beverages and frozen desserts
• Jams and fruit preparations
• Reduced-sugar and diabetic-friendly foods
Confectionery and bakery. The drum suits a kitchen that doses by weight into a mixer and does not want a bulk tank, with a drum pump into a small day vessel.
Beverage premix and syrup rooms. A closed drum keeps the syrup away from the plant atmosphere until the moment it is drawn, which protects a clear product from contamination.
Cosmetic and oral care batches. One drum maps cleanly onto a defined batch count, so a lot can be consumed within a single campaign and closed out.
Industrial and technical use. Drum supply fits a plant that needs a food-grade-compatible polyol for a technical process without a bulk unloading system.
Export and distribution. Palletised drums travel well, stack two high in a container and can be split across depots without losing the lot identity.
Dosing from a drum is done by weight on a floor scale, corrected for the density stated on the certificate.

Drum release testing covers both the product and the package. Each drum is checked for a clean food-grade liner, undamaged chime, correctly torqued bungs and an intact tamper seal before filling, and the gross weight is verified against the net fill so a short drum is caught at the line. A retained sample is drawn from the filling head and kept under the drum number.
Assay is confirmed by HPLC, dry substance by refractometer and water by Karl Fischer, with density measured so a buyer dosing by volume can correct for it. Colour and clarity are read against a fresh reference, and a crystallisation resistance check at 18 °C over 48 hours confirms the lot will not seed in a cold container or a winter warehouse. Reducing sugars, heavy metals, arsenic and microbiological counts are released against specification before the drums are palletised.![]()

Each 250 kg blue tight-head drum is food-grade lined, fitted with two bungs, sealed with tamper-evident caps and labelled with product, grade, net weight, lot number, storage conditions and the HS code for the shipment. Four drums are stacked per pallet and shrink-wrapped with edge protection, and a 20 ft container takes 80 drums as a full load at roughly 20 tonnes; LCL and mixed shipments are consolidated on pallets and confirmed against the destination port before booking.![]()

Stack drums no more than two high on a level floor, with the pallet intact, and keep the store between 15 °C and 30 °C, out of sunlight and away from steam lines. Move a drum with a lifter or a clamp, never by tipping it onto a rim. Open the small bung first when drawing, so air enters and the syrup flows without surging, and reseal both bungs immediately after use. A drum that has been chilled should be moved to a warm room for a day and rolled before drawing, since the syrup stratifies in solids as it thickens.
